Angelo Hays was thrown from his motorbike into a brick wall in 1937. Doctors pronounced him dead and a few days later he was buried. An insurance agent was suspicious that Hay’s father had taken out an odd life insurance policy on his son and so the body was exhumed two days later. They found that Hays was still alive and that a coma had slowed down his breaths to make him appear dead. After rehabilitation Hays survived and became famous in France for having been buried alive and lived to tell the tale. -

A six-year-old little girl in India was lured away from her parents by her neighbors. They told her they were taking her to a fair. Instead the female abductor strangled the girl and buried her in a field. Members of the public saw what was happening and raced to save the girl. She survived the horrific ordeal and was able to identify that it was the neighbors who tried to kill her. -

A man woke up to find himself in a Johannesburg morgue. Sipho William Mdletshe was in a horrific car accident with his girlfriend and his injuries were so bad that he was taken straight to the morgue. For two days and nights he lay unconscious in the metal box until he woke up from his coma. Staff at the morgue were alerted by his screams and he was obviously taken out. When he turned up at his girlfriend’s house she thought he was a zombie. Fair enough. -

Mildred Clarke was 86-years-old when she was found laying on the floor in her home. Paramedics could not find a heartbeat and so they put her in a body bag. After 90 minutes, Mrs Clarke woke up and scared the living sh*t out of the staff at the morgue. She survived for one more week. -

In 1915, Essie Dunbar was thought to have died of an epileptic fit at the age of 30. Her sister was late to the funeral and when she arrived, Dunbar was about to be interned. She wanted to see her sister one last time and when the coffin was opened, Dunbar sat up. In complete shock, the town asked Dunbar to walk down the middle of the road to prove she was not a zombie. Essie Dunbar lived until she was 77-years-old -

Holy god. Natalya Pasternak was walking with her friend in 2015 and they were both attacked by a bear. Pasternak was mauled and knocked unconscious. As her friend escaped to get help, the bear buried Pasternak in dirt and leaves, hoping to eat her later. The police came in time to shoot and kill the bear and rescue Pasternak. -

In 2015 an infant was found in a pile of concrete rubble wrapped in a hospital blanket in Compton. Two women discovered her and immediately called the police. The baby girl survived and the mother was found and arrested for attempted murder. -

Two Chinese parents panicked when they saw their child had been born with a cleft palate. They decided to bury the child in a box in the cemetery. Eight days later a woman was picking herbs near the shallow grave when she heard a baby crying. After ringing the police they discovered the baby was still alive as the box allowed water and oxygen to get in. -

Anthony Britton was a magician and prepared for 14 months to bury himself alive. However, the weight of the soil was unexpected and when he tried to free himself he couldn’t move his arm. When the safety people around Britton started to worry, they quickly unearthed him. Britton said “I almost died, I was seconds away from death.” Apparently the weight of the soil was so heavy that it constricted his breathing and he started to lose consciousness. -

A woman was visiting her family plot in 2013 in Brazil and saw a man trying to climb out of the ground. His hands were visible and she helped pull him out of the shallow grave. Apparently he had been beaten and buried and left for dead. He has no memory of the incident. Thank goodness because no one wants to remember that. -

During the Irish Potato famine a three-year-old was accidentally buried alive. During that time period so many people were dying that the sick child was mistaken for the dead. As he was being buried in a mass grave, the grave digger hit him in the legs with a shovel. The little boy screamed and was saved. -

Philomele Jonetre was thought to have died of cholera in 1867. She was buried six hours later and when the grave diggers were just about to finish the job they heard someone knocking. They frantically uncovered her to discover she was alive. She died one day later of either her illness or the horror of being buried alive.
